Movies With Friends

Author: Meow

I’m assuming most people watch very disturbing movies alone. And I’m not talking about BS like Saw. I’m talking about stuff like Hostel and The Human Centipede. Yeah, these are the most common disturbing movies. But I’m damn sure I ain’t watching August Underground with anyone I know. Well. I’ve always watched these type of movies alone. I’m happy enough to watch Saw and similar with others. But stuff like Hostel? Well. My friend sees it on a streaming platform. We’re bored and wanna watch a movie. I’d actually already told my friend a few days ago that I’ve already seen all the Hostel movies and loved the first one but apparently my friend has REALLY shitty memory and goes “Hey this looks interesting”. I hesitate at first. I’ve watched Hostel 1 twice. Maybe thrice. I first watched it two years after it came out, and the second time was only about 2-3 years ago. I was gonna say no, but knowing I haven’t watched it in a while, and that it’s my favourite movie, I decide to just pretend I’ve never watched it. We watch the movie and I feel like I have to pretend to be shocked every time I see the disturbing scenes. But like, I DO feel more disturbed. Watching it alone, it’s like kinda gross and I do feel a bit squeamish, but after a while you kinda become like, “eh”. But seeing it with someone else? Idk… and then they be like “OMG don’t look!!! That’s sooo disturbing!” And the genuine shock on their face… seeing the disturbing scenes are actually bad. And yeah I’m not an edgelord. When I was like 8-11 I had too much internet access unsupervised and saw some pretty gnarly stuff (including IRL stuff). Some of the stuff I saw was going viral online, I won’t go too much into detail, but one of them was of a guy shooting himself. I saw stuff like videos of cartel torture, and one that still sticks in my mind, someone cutting their nipples off and EATING them (I actually was friends-ish with this person, it was sad because they were actually really nice, but they got well a while after). And someone cutting so deep into their leg, like REALLY fucking deep. And since there was a lot of other fucked up stuff. My mum pretty much stopped monitoring what I did online once I turned 9, I think it was cause I started hiding my laptop in my room and she just stopped caring or something. It was weird because she’d force me to talk to strangers online and make friends with them. One of them was weird and the other was austistic. I remember I had an irl friend and this friend had 3 sisters and when she phoned me her sisters would be verbally abusing me and my mum forced me to stay on the PHONE?! I don’t know. But looking back I don’t even know how I watched that shit. Now I’d probably vomit watching any of it. And I could go on but I’d rather not. AND I saw that two girls one cup video at like 10 ☠️☠️☠️ But I would say it made me more desensitised or interested. I don’t know how to word it honestly. Cause I absolutely cannot watching actual gore which is why I really hate MDPOPE. Now that I think about it, I get squeamish seeing irl videos of people getting punched or even so much as slapped. But I can handle gore in movies. So don’t call me an edgelord cause I’m actually quite squeamish, you guys are all more edgelord like than I am, I’m just desensitised to gore in movies. I rather watch cute videos of kitten or something. It also probably helps considering most movies aren’t realistic. You’d think Saw would be more disturbing than Hostel, but it’s not. Cause Saw is just wildly unrealistic. ☠️☠️☠️ But yeah Hostel was actually a good rewatch and I usually get bored with rewatches. Might rewatch something else 🔜. I forgot how good of a movie Hostel is. I really love Hostel. (I once actually went to the location it’s filmed in 🙂 cool place).
