Everyone I know is freaking out over the football. Is it just me that doesn’t care? I could understand some hype but people seem INSANELY excited about it. Grown men ripping their t-shirts off just to see other grown men kicking a football around.
Again, if you’re interested in the sport, that’s fine, what I don’t understand is MILLIONS of people acting like this is the most exciting thing ever. These people care more about football than things like the Epstein files and politics (football is political at times but you get what I mean).
Can someone please try and genuinely explain the hype to me… I’ll maybe try and force myself to sit through and watch one of the games later today.

No I don’t give a fuck about those men kicking a ball around. I personally DO enjoy playing football but watching it is so so sooo boring.
This is valid to rant about because the football is GENUINELY shoved in your face even if you don’t care about it, especially if you’re British. If you don’t like it in the UK or even just don’t care for it, people freeze as their brain genuinely can’t process someone having different opinions. If you’re a guy that doesn’t care for the football suddenly you’re the gayest faggot to ever roam this earth, I guess it’s not too critiqued for women to not like it but you’ll still definitely get a few rude stares.
Trust me I wouldn’t be complaining about something like this if IT WASNT BEING FUCKING SHOWN EVERYWHERE.

Heterosexual men enjoying watching and admiring other skilled men play a sport is about the most male thing imaginable. It’s called respect. You can appreciate elite ability without wanting to fuck the person displaying it.
Soccer wasn’t a huge deal where I grew up. It was mostly something we’d kick around after school once in a while while football, basketball, and baseball got most of the attention. But even then, it wasn’t hard to understand why people enjoy watching athletes perform at a level they’ll never reach themselves. Honestly, this sounds like one of those pseudo-intellectual takes from somebody who doesn’t understand sport in the first place. Most fans aren’t sitting there fantasizing about the players. They’re watching because they appreciate skill, competition, and people doing things they themselves can’t do.
Fact is the US women’s soccer team was beaten by a boy’s school team. There’s a reason why sport is massively skewed towards male eyes.
tbh I understand actually playing the game, I remember playing it with my dad in a park when we lived in Florida. That being said, I genuinely don’t care about watching other people play, especially if you’re not even in the game at all. Like it would make more sense if you’re waiting for your turn to play but you’re just straight up watching others play what’s even the point?? I guess I could get it if you bet money on one team but even then I’d just be anxious that my team I bet on is gonna lose. idk.
