Have you guys seen Obsession? I know you’re going to go straight to the comments saying its normie trash but, I think personally It’s disturbing as fuck and I’ll tell you why
SPOILERS!
Nikki loses any sort of consent once Bear’s wish takes effect. The wish forces her to love Bear “more than anyone else.” The movie repeatedly shows that her behavior is no longer self-directed but dictated by the wish. So even when she appears enthusiastic, affectionate, or sexually interested, she is under a spell which, clearly, she has no consensual decision at all. In fact, the sex scene with her and bear you can clearly see she isn’t there and he is fucking a dead corpse which is horrendous and maybe, a metaphor for if bear “truly” loves her or just the idea of her.

Just watched it. I mean it was a fine modern horror movie but Bear’s writing is honestly awful. He makes so many incomprehensible desicions throughout the whole movie that what’s left is just a bad written rapist doll. Your possessed girlfriend makes you a dead cat sandwich and then you go home to tell her you are going to a boy’s night? what? There is not a single person who would be okay with all this shit. Bear was just a bitch at the start of the movie and then he slowly turned into Dumb Survivor #4 towards the end of the first half of the movie. He is not a real person. And with the movie being mostly a character analysis of a non-existent character. It falls of quite rapidly. But still better than most other modern slop, I’ll admit.
I was surprised I liked the movie since I don’t indulge in a lot of modern horror. I think Bear’s personality was very vital for him as the antagonist considering nobody assumes an awkward type to be a creep, i didn’t expect him to be the villain but it was so well executed
Follow up: I saw it, it got to me. I know it wasn’t really the main point, but the entity in Nikki abusing Bear is actually what disturbed me so much. I think cause it looked and sounded like my parents. I just cried most of the movie lol. The whole situation was so horrible.
I didn’t think it’d be super disturbing because of how many normies talk about seeing it, Honestly not very aware of what it is about but now I’m curious to watch.
I’m seeing it on Wednesday, I’ll let you know what I think.
I almost didn’t watch it because I thought it’d be super cliche crazy girlfriend trope but honestly I’m glad I did bc of how much it focuses on how Bear is terrible and how Nikki’s really the one suffering
