Recently i have not been feeling so great mentally. Go ahead and call me a whining bitch, but i went to my PG, and got recommended to quit weed and alcohol for a month. Although it did teach me some things about myself, and the use of substances, i have a couple of larger takeaways. I figured this might be as good a place as any to put them, so here you go.
If you don’t like it, go suck a dick. You are the one still reading.
1. Alcohol is hard to say no to in groups, weed is hard to say no to alone.
Pretty self explanatory. Ive never really understood drinking by yourself to begin with. Especially after drinking for a while, and building up resistance, there is just no use for it beyond it filling your stomach. The only reason i can imagine doing so is because you enjoy the taste of it, like when you’re drinking a craft beer for example.
With weed it is different, since it doesn’t take a whole lot for you to feel it, and it doesn’t put a thousand calories in your stomach. In many ways its a lot better than drinking, but its still best not to overdo it.
2. Its way harder to let something go when you’re supposed to, than when you have free choice in the matter.
I kid you not, the full month I was craving a drink or a smoke, but the moment it was over this craving disappeared. I did drink a beer the other night, and will have a weed night with friends soon, but I don’t mind being sober. Really have grown a taste for alcohol free beers.
3. Some people are insufferable when sober.
Over the last month i have basically cut my social activities in half. i now have more time to be with my girlfriend, or do other stuff. This is mostly because i realized that some people i hang out with are really just not it. Sadly i do have some responsibilities from a time i wasn’t as sober, but I’m slowly wriggling myself out of those.
4. Doctors are just bullshitting when they say it will make you feel better.
Over the month i really didn’t notice any real change, except maybe the lack of a hangover every now and then. If anything, not being able to do what i wanted made me feel worse. The only reason i upheld it was because quitting is for bitches. I get that it might make the difference if you are a full-blown alcoholic (as some of you undoubtably are), but i was really only a social drinker, and quitting has shown me how much of a non-addict i was to begin with. Problem is that the moment you mention to a doctor that you occasionally drink they will think its the root of all your problems, and that your word cant be trusted, since you are possibly an addict.
Anyways, that was the end of my rant.
Have a nice day,
Magnum Johnson
Alcohol sucks thats why I do hard drugs now
Trash post TRASH POST
I have to drink alone because booze makes me an abusive, overemotional insufferable human to be around. I pretty much lost all my friends because of this behaviour or I just pushed them away. They say booze helps you forgot but for me it just opens up a can of worms from the past or shows everyone who I really am.. a piece of shit. Haven’t been sober for over a month in years but want to very bad. You are lucky you don’t have full addiction brain where you absolutely NEED booze to feel better in life or once you start you can’t stop drinking
Yes to 3 and 4.
In fact the older you get the less you tolerate people anyway. I just can not be bothered with some friends anymore.
As for doctors the bullshit about everything. They know more than the average person and have all the fancy stuff to check you with and mend you with but any kind of unknown and it becomes speculative. A good example is BMI, it is a meaningless number but they will still use it to tell you to stop eating cake.
I stopped drug taking years ago for several reasons and kind of grew out of it. Booze I enjoyed until it did become a problem, so I stopped and because it was a very social thing to do I dumped a load of friends to help me stop. Now I just have the occasional beer but can go months without any real craving.
Heavy on some people are insufferable when sober. I know one person that is drunk 24/7. They’re drunk pretty much every single day. It’s kinda sad, but not really, because they’re genuinely a bad person. However, on the rare occasions they have been sober, their true nature shows. When they’re drunk, they’re loud, extroverted, and kinda annoying in that ‘pls be quiet’ way. When they’re sober they’re quiet and angry.
Also – the word ‘sobriety’ reminds me of The Pusher from the Outlast Trials.
