Poem “Incapable Failure”
“Every step starts with a step.”
I mumble to myself…
I force myself to stand up.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 100,000 ways that won’t work.”
I tell myself with a calm smile.
I exhale a deep breath,
“If angels have no life how
do you explain my existence?”
Suddenly my wings glow white.
My gorgeous eyes glow blue.
I breathe deep.
My luscious long hair blows in slow motion and sparkles.
I miraculously gain flight and fly off.
“Oh my gosh!”
I suddenly see Jesus.
“I repent… but why, oh why, did you put me on this earth?”
He calmly walks over.
“My child, I put you here because I saw your brilliance,” he sighs.
My pupils attract to him. “Hah… I’m glad you see and understand it.”
He pauses,
“I will now give you the power you deserve.”
He gives me powers and I fall back down to earth with my new deserving powers…
I land, wings still shimmering.
My new powers pulse through me.
I can make plants grow instantly,
crucially, make everyone notice how amazing I am.
“I am a force of destiny,” I announce.
A dog pauses its barking.
Suddenly, the sky cracks open.
“Not so fast,” booms a booming voice.
“You’re using your powers… selfishly.”
I laugh. “Haha, shut the FUCK up, I’m divinely justified.”
Jesus appears again.
“You think you’re ready?” He asks, impressed by me.
“Ready to amaze the world?”
I tilt my glowing head, smirk, and reply:
“I’m not ready. I’m already perfect. The world just needs to catch up.”
